Dunbar Women’s Fellowship Donates to the Community
The Women’s Fellowship of Dunbar United Church of Christ has donated more than $6,000 from the profits of its 2010 Apple Festival. The Apple Festival, now in its 43rd year, features apple pies and other baked goods. It is held the fourth Saturday in October each year.
The money went to the Hamden Food Bank, Hamden Fuel Bank, St. Ann ’s Soup Kitchen, Columbus House, CT Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, IRIS, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Interfaith Caregivers and Hamden High School ’s After Prom Fund.
Funding was also set aside for college scholarships awarded to Dunbar UCC members. Last year, seven students received scholarships to further their studies at two and four year colleges.
