NORTH HAVEN -- First Selectman Michael J. Freda has announced new dates for the annual budget town meeting and referendum.
Earlieri dates had been announced previously because of a clerical error after reading the town charter. The charter says the annual budget town meeting had to be the second Monday in May, and that the referendum would be the following Tuesday.
The budget meeting will be held at 7 p.m. May 14 at North Haven High School. The referendum is from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 22. The Board of Finance will meet at 7 p.m. May 23 to set the tax rate, expected to be 26.54 mills, the same as this year.
