HAMDEN -- The “community build” of the playgrounds at

Church Street

and Helen Street Elementary Schools, originally scheduled for May 7 and 8, has been changed to a “professional” installation due to the vendor’s scheduling problems.

As an accommodation, the vendor, Universal Play Systems, will be installing both playgrounds during the week of May 9 – 13.  Therefore, community volunteers won't be needed for May 7 or May 8, according to a statement from the Hamden public schools.

However, there will be a “ribbon cutting” ceremony at both schools at 11 a.m. May 21.

The district thanks all those who planned to participate this weekend.
