Flag Day in Hamden/North Haven
The Hamden Elks Lodge #2224, serving North Haven and Hamden, this week conducted its 50th annual Flag Day Ceremony at Hamden Town Center Park. The event included officers of Hamden Lodge, Girl Scout Troop 60122 and Boy Scout Troop 610, who presented the history of the flag and demonstrated the flag folding ceremony.
Members The Governor’s Foot Guard acted as color guard throughout the ceremony. The history of the nation's military endeavors were recited to music. Hamden Mayor Scott D. Jackson, American Legion Post 88, Hamden Veteran’s Commission and Hamden dignitaries conducted the dedication ceremony of the flagpole donated by Hamden Lodge to the town in honor of local veterans and the unveiling of the monument commemorating the 2007 hosting of the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall at the site.
