Get those leaves bagged and out....
HAMDEN -- Leaf and brush collection has begun by the Public Works Department, according to Director Craig Cesare.
Residents are asked to have leaves and brush at curb by this date to ensure pick-up.
Leaves must be placed in paper bags and brush must be bundled and tied with string or
twine. Bundles should weigh no more than 50 lbs, exceed no more than four feet in length and
contain no pieces in excess of four inches diameter. Bundled brush and bagged leaves should be
placed at the curb, separate of each other, and away from trash and recycling, Cesare said.
Leaves cannot be picked up from private roads or from roads that have not been accepted into the
town road system. Residents on unaccepted and private roads may bring leaves to the Transfer
Station during normal hours, weekdays from 7:30 am to 3 p.m. as well as the 1st and
3rd Saturdays of the month from 8 to 11:45 a.m.
Elderly and disabled residents may rake their leaves, unbagged, at the curb, for pickup, according to Cesare.
