I hope I see you at Earth Day

Hamden's sixth annual Earth Day Celebration is Saturday April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Ave.
Here are the highlights, as provided by Pam Roach, Hamden Solid Waste and Recycling Coordinator.

9:00am -- Pre-Event Bird Walk lead by Florence McBride
10:00am-1:00pm -- WTNH Weathervan
10:00am-1:00pm -- Petting Zoo
10:30am Reptile Show by Hamden High School
11am, Noon, 2pm - Organic Land Care Workshops by NOFA
11:30am and 12:30pm --C.J. May's Magic Shows
Noon -- Orchid Awards presented by Mayor Scott D. Jackson
1:00pm -- ART FARM - A Circus for a Fragile Planet
ALL DAY -- Carbon Nation - A Climate Change Solutions Movie
ALL DAY -- CT Child Identification Program
ALL DAY -- Amber Alert Registration
  • Bring your old cell phones, ink cartridges and eyeglasses for recycling
  • Bring your old used sneakers for recycling in the Nike ReuseAShoe program. Old athletic shoes are recycled into a material used to produce a variety of athletic surfaces including basketball courts, running tracks and playground surfacing. Only athletic shoes accepted – dry, no mud please.
  • Bring a rechargeable battery and be entered into a drawing for a $25 Home Depot Gift Certificate
