The North Haven Board of Education's Superintendent Selection Committee has picked its top candidate for superintendent of schools, but who it is still under wraps.

The man is a school superintendent in the Waterbury area, according to sources. He supposedly has already resigned from his job at that school district.

"We are in negotiations with the final candidate," said board Chairwoman Sandra Cummings.

The man toured schools last week.

Cummings hopes the school board will be able to act on the new superintendent’s contract by the beginning of February.

The man would replace Sara-Jane R. Querfeld, who left last summer to take a directorship with North Branford schools.
