Check out the new Highwood Square for a Taste of PLACE on Saturday

Party with a purpose! Support Hamden's New Multicultural Children's Museum & Creative Arts Center at the 4th annual Taste of P.L.A.C.E. presented by The Wine Thief and Rollins Printing. The event promises to show off the best of the arts community in Greater New Haven. This year's fundraiser will shine a deserving spotlight on a host of talented artists who are invested in our community including Elaine Peters & Coco Caribe Dance Troupe, the Arunodhaya Dance Academy, Hindustani Classical Vocalist Sagarika Kanjilal and over 25 local artists exhibiting in the ASC Artists Supporting Community Exhibit. We'll also have Live Art Demonstrations, an Interactive Community Exhibit, Video Projections, and a Wine & Beer Tasting Presented by The Wine Thief.  This year, P.L.A.C.E. will feature Emmy Award Winner and acclaimed children's book author Janus Adams who will read from her latest book, “WAY TO GO! The BackPax Parents’ Guide to Empowering Adventurous Young Minds” a must have for parents and friends of the P.L.A.C.E. museum. Also authors Amy Nawrocki & Eric D. Lehman will sign their book "A History of Connecticut Wine" about what's growing in our own backyard!

The 4th annual Taste of P.L.A.C.E. event is a celebration of Art, Music & Wine, designed for the benefit of the future home of P.L.A.C.E. Multicultural Children's Museum & Creative Arts Center. Our new home is the Historic Rectory School Barn located at the entrance to The Town Center Park, in Hamden, CT. P.L.A.C.E has partnered with the Town of Hamden in the construction of the much anticipated Multicultural Museum, and we are proud to announce we're just beginning our second phase of construction.

Our P.L.A.C.E. Art Studio, located at 2781 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden has been serving the Greater New Haven community since 2001.  We provide multicultural art classes, workshops, parties, community events and art & music festivals throughout the region. We also offer after-school and Saturday art programs, vocational services for persons with disability, film and media workshops for middle school aged kids, media internship programs and free community programs that include the creative arts and a multicultural themed summer arts camp at our art studio.

Our mission at P.L.A.C.E. is to engage our community in the exploration of world cultures, to celebrate the richness of diversity and to provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment that  fosters community action, social cohesion and connects people of all ages and cultures through interactive art, play and life-long learning.

The Taste of P.L.A.C.E. will be held this year at Highwoord Square in Hamden, offering a sneak peek at Hamden's new artist housing development. The newly constructed building, which just opened in January, offers affordable housing to artists in our community.  The housing complex also has ground floor/retail commercial spaces in addition to its 27 affordable apartments.

Sponsors of the event include: ASC, The Wine Thief, Rollins Printing, Hamden Arts Commission, NeighborWorks New Horizons, Fair Haven Furniture, Creative Planet Workshop, Wolf Films and P.L.A.C.E. Multicultural Children's Museum & Creative Arts Center.

Our capital campaign goal for this year is $300,000. Come and be a part of our children's creative journey at P.L.A.C.E.
