Busy Times in North Haven

Saturday Oct. 23 is a big day in North Haven, and Sunday Oct. 24 is important as well.

The Show & Sell Business and Community Expo will be held at the North Haven High School on
221 Elm Street
from to . Many local businesses and community groups are participating, with a “Taste of North Haven” food court, performances, demonstrations, raffles, samples, “touch-a-truck” and more.
First Selectman Michael J. Freda thanks the following business sponsors for completely funding the event:
The United Illuminating Company and GBAC – Group Benefit Administrators of CT, Inc; Ciulla & Donofrio LLP, Country Septic Service LLC, Extreme Bathovers, Forget Me Not Flower Shop LLC, Godfrey-Hoffman Associates, Non-Tox Pest Management, Nova Dental, Parese Motors, Steamatic of CT LLC, and Tobin Center for Chiropractic. The Advisor is the Media Sponsor.

The North Haven Substance Abuse Prevention Council will have its second Prescription Medication Disposal Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Elm Street side entrance of the high school, also Oct. 23. It's the perfect opportunity for you to dispose of expired and unwanted medications around your home. The council is urging residents to participate. It only takes a few minutes, is confidential, and you can be sure that the drugs are properly disposed of by a licensed medical waste disposal company. Turning in your unused drugs ensures that they will not be used for recreational purposes and helps to keep our water clean.

Oct. 23 also is Go Pink For The Cure In North Haven. As you drive around town, you may notice the pink ribbons posted on many of the trees and poles. It's to remind us that for women in the United States, breast cancer is the second most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death. The Connecticut Women Finding A Cure will be sponsoring a motorcycle run through North Haven culminating at the North Haven High School parking lot where a proclamation will be presented to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness.

Also, the third  annual Peter’s Rock Fall Festival  is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24. at the park,
133 Middletown Ave
. There will be free food and guided hikes, along with pumpkin decorating and activities for children.
